I thought I would pop you all a bit of a catch up from today. This is going to be a short post, but I just wanted to chat with you all as I usually post for you daily. Dedication!
So we have been super busy today – the van is packed (finally) and the apartment is clean. We are currently lying in the loungeroom on the floor with a plastic sheet covering our mattress and a pillow/blanket, the sheet keeps crinkling at our every move but man are our bodies achey and tired from the day!
Loading the van was a utter drainer, we have apartment renovations on at the moment so every time we wanted an elevator we had to wait 10 minutes to even get in one. Unfortunate for us, 2 other people are moving out as well that happens to fall on the same day – yeah. It sucked.
Our van is pretty much a safety hazard. It has no handle to the side door, the front of the van is dented, one of the side mirrors is cracked and it smells like death.
When the carpet cleaner came, he arrived over half an hour early (which we were relying that he would come when he said he would) and the apartment wasn’t ready. We had our rooms filled with boxes and we were mid moving our heavy wooden coffee table out when he called to let us know he would be early. Blehhhhhhh. We whisked around like crazy humans trying to get everything into rooms that didn’t have carpet – which we surprisingly did! We had to vacuum the floors before he got started as well, but we managed to do just fine. The rest of the move was us continually taking our shoes off and on and stepping over the carpet by the front door so we could finish moving our entire apartment out into the van.
It was pretty crazy for a day, definitely not your average one. On the upside, we got delicious sandwiches (the same I had yesterday, nom) and we actually have the van. The apartment is empty besides our plastic sheet covered mattress, our suitcases and ourselves. We did it.
Tomorrow, we get to pick our cat up and go on our merry way to Melbourne. Hello new journey!
This is all worth it, I couldn’t be more excited and happier to get going and start my adventure. I get to see my family in a few weeks back in Sydney for a joint birthday celebration for my 21st and mums 50th (half of a 100 – impossibruuu!), so don’t worry Sydney – I’ll be back briefly!
Melbourne here we go!
