Get To Know Me

Good afternoon readers,

I have been doing a bit of what I guess you could call ‘Spring cleaning’ throughout DaySixtyFive. I came across a ‘Get To Know Me’ post which was well out of date (uh oh), so I decided to make a fresh new one and post it for any new readers coming on board.

So, where to begin?

My name is Jessica (Jess). I’m an Australian who is well on their way to 24 years of age, and boy does time fly. I could ramble on about how I am a Taurus, my favourite colour is yellow and I like Autumn. But, in reality, I like to think of who I am by my life experiences and what has shaped me as a person.

Just like the majority of people in this day and age, I find myself as a hopeless romantic.

I found my husband by sheer luck. It was almost like a movie. You know, the woman and man are both at bad points in their life – rather depressed at the fact, but then see each other and it’s love at first sight. Their lives take a positive turn, and everything ends merry. Well, that kind of happened.

It’s disgustingly cute.

We fell in love and were engaged within a month of knowing each other. Yes, we did have a longer than average engagement but we just liked being committed to each other. We get off on that commitment kinda stuff, it’s good stuff – you know how it is.

Anyway, we rescued a cat from Gum Tree.

Yes, we were ballsy enough to find a cheap offer of a kitten for sale on Gum Tree.

Why yes we did go to a strangers house who gave us no personal details on themselves to go collect the kitten too. Somehow, this cat ended up being an absolute handful but we love him to death.

He isn’t your normal cat, he’s literally a spawn of Satan but my god is he adorable.

When I say he’s evil, he literally runs away from sage like it’s a plague.

His mind is full of secrets!

So, there we have it. To summarize – I’m a hopeless romantic who’s married to their best friend, has a devil spawn of a cat that we bought from Gum Tree many years ago and I like yellow things.

I like to write, a lot. I have been on and off blogging for a long time. I’m coming to a turning point in my life where I will be a mother in a few months.

Yes, the plot thickens – I’m a Taurus AND I’m pregnant. Shock and alarm!

I’m hoping to introduce a lot of helpful tips on what I learn along the way. For example, being prepared early is great – we have just a few weeks to go now and we are just waiting for bub to finish cooking in the oven. I am aiming to get something up for you all on products we recommend, once we try them out first of course.

Anyway, I hope this helps to give you a brief insight on the person behind the keyboard for DaySixtyFive. You’ll catch bits and pieces throughout my writing as you read on who I am and what shapes me as a character, but I thought this was a fun thing to do for you all.

Be sure to follow me on my social media accounts, Twitter and Instagram. I update there regularly.

I hope you are all having a great day/night wherever you are in the world.

  1. Hello, thank you for stopping by on my blog because that’s what led me to yours. It’s really interesting to see how different your life is from mine, as someone who is almost the same age (I’m a Gemini sun though… yikes at myself). Nonetheless, it seems so amazing. Good luck on your journey and with your pregnancy – I’m looking forward to reading more!

    1. Oh wow, you’re so wonderful. Thank you for taking the time to come through to my blog and having a read, that’s really lovely of you – I just popped onto yours and saw you use your other blog now – how exciting! 😊 I wish you all the best. I’ll keep up on your posts to come!!

  2. Nice to meet you. Clicked on your link from carol anne’s blog. I’ll be following your blog in my feed reader, because I love to learn with you. I don’t have kids and don’t intend on having any, but I love to read blogs by mothers (especially when they do more than just product reviews). I’m a lot older than you (33, Cancer as my sun sign). My love story is pretty much the opposite of yours, in th at my now husband waited foru months from getting to know me to tell me he was in love with me and then I let him wait four more months before reciprocating his love. May I ask how long you’ve been married? We’ve been ma rried over 8 years now.

    1. Nice to meet you!! How are you going? Thank you so much for stopping by. I love meeting new readers, I’ll be sure to follow you in return I would love to keep in the loop with yourself. I love your story of you and your husband! 8 years is a wonderful time. My husband and I are just about onto our second year now, we had been engaged for 3 years – we couldn’t find the best time to get married but ended up just going for it! Did you and your hubby have a long engagement? 🙂 Thank you again for taking the time to comment and read my posts, it means a lot.

      1. Thanks for responding. My husband and I were engaged for 15 months and had our wedding day in our head right when we got engaged. We set it with the civil service person a year in advance, just because we couldn’t set it earlier. We got married when we had known each other exactly four years.
