Weekly Wrap Up; Onto December!

Happy Sunday everyone!

I hope you are all having a great day. For my overseas readers, I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving celebrations! I hope you all enjoyed yourselves with wonderful food and surrounded yourselves in great company.

Yesterday my husband and I put up our Christmas tree and decorations around the house. Well, I started the tree decorating while my husband worked on his antique clock that fell off the wall while he was trying to straighten it up. Thankfully nothing broke with the antique clock and it is currently ticking away merrily in front of me whilst I type this post! Hooray.

We listened to Christmas carols while we wrapped the tree in lights and hung the decorations together. It was really, really nice. There’s something so happy about Christmas that just really makes the year seem not so bad. It’s a time of forgiveness and reflection, it’s such a lovely celebration.

One part that really tickles my heart is when you get to hang up a really special decoration on the tree that means something to you.

My husband and I have matching snowflake decorations that we hang on the tree together. Everyone is their own special snowflake, but I like to think that my husband and I are the same kind paired together. We’re two quirky people that found their match. It’s just nice to hang together on the tree, it just means something. It’s only once a year that you get to see it.

Here are some photos of our tree….

Our lights have all sorts of colour options but the one that we love is the blue/green and red/yellow setting where it will automatically switch from one to the other! They are the best.

As you can see, our tree is massive. Unfortunately we can’t put anything special like a star on the top of the tree or it’ll hit the roof. Last year we put a Santa hat on the top of the tree (they’re squishy it was safe!), but this year we decided to put Santa hats on the lights around the room.

Our walls are covered in fairy lights as well, it feels so cozy!

This will be our last Christmas just the two of us until our special bub is here! We can’t wait to start celebrating Christmas with a child around, it’s going to bring back the magic of the day. We will help our bub put biscuits/milk out and make sure they are in bed fast asleep (even if they are pretending) and sneakily put their Christmas pressies out! I have no idea how I never noticed that Santa’s tags on the pressies matched the same handwriting as my mum’s on hers.

Imagination is a beautiful thing when you’re young.

My husband has a story where he swears he saw Santa’s sleigh in the sky, he physically saw it and he has never been able to shake that image. I remember hearing Santa’s sleigh landing on the roof as well in my childhood once. Being a kid around Christmas was one of the greatest experiences.

Nowadays, my favourite part about Christmas is getting to put tinsel everywhere and anywhere!

I was talking to a lady at my work the other day about how I love the smell of tinsel, and she said that tinsel doesn’t have a smell! I swear tinsel does have a very distinct smell, and for me it is so nostalgic. It smells like Christmas, am I just going mad? Who knows!

Moving forward, this morning I woke up to my cat snuggled up next to me on my pregnancy pillow, he’s beginning to get far too comfortable with it. There’s cat hair all over it!

I guess I need to get used to that it’s no longer mine and we bought it specifically for him to sleep on. Well, in his mind that’s the case!

He’s lucky he is so cute.Β

To summarise, this week all up has been a really good yet busy week at work. In other news we had our rental inspection (I wrote a post about this), as well as our midwife appointment which was to confirm everything is going well and to discuss my results for gestational diabetes (it’s common to be tested for it, just in case!) and everything is absolutely perfect. Bub and I are tracking well, we are on our way now. Only 12 weeks to go. Time is ticking! We are so excited.

Let’s hope this week coming is a good one, I hope you all are having a lovely weekend!

While you are here, catch up on my posts for the week:

      1. No I don’t. I don’t even think we’ll get a Christmas tree this year. We didn’t get one in previous years at least for fear our cat would tear it down.

      2. Haha, that is incredibly relatable. We were so close to not putting a tree up this year as well, our cat tends to eat the branches. When I was putting the tree up, the middle section right tucked in by the truck had this huge ball of fur – he must’ve attempted to climb it when my hubby and I were at work one day! Who knows how long that fur ball has been there!! Cats are a handful, a very cute handful. πŸ˜€

      3. Yes, cats are definitely cute! My husband had a kitten before I lived with him and he’d put his paw into my husband’s mouth at night. Now we have a different cat whom we got at one year of age. The former kitten, now a 6-year-old cat, is still in the family though, as he lives with my sister-in-law.
