Weekly Wrap Up

Top of the afternoon to ‘yer,

It’s that time of the week again. Go on, grab your glass of wine! Or if you are like me, grab yourself a glass of alcohol removed sparkling and let’s get stuck into it.

So what happened this week?

Well, on Monday my husband and I started the week by having to visit a government service centre so we could apply for our paid parental leave/dad and partner pay. This was after we found out that my work doesn’t provide paid maternity leave, at all, so yeah – we are hoping there is a possibility we can get something to help us out.

The process for the application was beyond tedious, it took us all of the morning. We both ended back up at work well after lunch time, but at least we got it sorted. That’s the main thing, we just need to wait and see how things go.

I went to the bookshop after work later in the week to grab my hubby a book for his work Christmas party, which was a challenge in itself..

My hubby works in IT for an exclusively Adventist organisation (he isn’t Adventist, no idea how he gets away with it) which meant I had to look for something toned down and within the money limit they put on the secret Santa gift – I ended up getting a vegetarian cook book for the person. Apparently this was a huge hit, and the person said being vegetarian is a lifelong dream for them! Worked out well. Hubby got a great book in return which is a book based off his surnames history, it definitely doesn’t look as though it was within the twenty dollar limit which is a bit cheeky but what a great gift!!

We found an alcohol removed brand from the grocery store that I can drink!

This was to celebrate our anniversary on the Saturday/Sunday. I am currently drinking it now, and it is absolutely delicious. If any of you are non alcoholic drinkers in general or just pregnant/breastfeeding – please try Edenvale. It’s absolutely delicious! I couldn’t recommend it more, I literally feel like I’m drinking the real deal.

I came across a Numerology book..

I have been studying it and taking down a lot of notes. I’m looking forward to writing a bit more about here on my blog. The science of numbers truly is fascinating. I can’t wait to learn more so that I can do a proper reading from it. I’ve loved Numerology for many years, I have a few books on it out in the shed (packed away) so I haven’t had it brought to my attention for ages. I am really looking forward to getting into it a bit more.

My hubby and I got stuck into our anniversary on Saturday and Sunday…

Saturday morning we packed up and went out for breakfast before heading over to our favourite crystal store and bought new pendants (hubby had a custom made pendant on the spot), bracelets, crystal turtles and a crystal tree. When speaking with the store owner, she ended up giving us multiple crystals for free for my hubby to mix into an elixir that should help my hubby’s eczema/contact dermatitis. She is the sweetest lady ever, we were so grateful for her generosity.

After the crystal store we checked into our hotel and then went and got ourselves some charcoal chicken with chips/gravy for lunch..

We ate our lunch back at the hotel watching the ducks in the lake that were right outside – what a view from our hotel room. We took it easy in the afternoon, watched a bit of hotel telly and relaxed.

Shortly after, we went to get a cheeky pre-mix scotch for the hubby and sparkling water for me from the liquor store. We put them in the hotel fridge and went to get some dinner from the bistro so that we could spend the rest of the evening just relaxing together with some video games/hotel telly and then dozed off!

It was such a relaxing day..

Now that it’s Sunday, we had a delicious free breakfast provided by the hotel before heading home. We stopped off at the shops, but before we knew it we ended up buying our cat a cat tower for him to play with, new toys, treats – basically just spoiled the buggery out of the cat. We tend to do that when we are without him for even just a little bit, I guess we love cats?!

Hmm, that is just about it.

Excitingly, I have spent the rest of the afternoon writing Christmas cards for work…

Gah, there were so many. It’s so nice to write Christmas cards, but after the 30-ish card you get a tiiiiny bit over it.

This will be my last week at work before I commence maternity leave, this Friday we have a midwife appointment as well. Next weekly wrap up you will hear all about it I’m sure!

Posts I Have Put Up This Week:

I hope you are all having a great weekend.

  1. I really hope you can get some form of paid maternity leave at least. Of course I hope your husband will get some parental leave too. It’s a shame your employer doesn’t provide any form of maternal leave.
By the way, I also tried to comment on your post on crystals, but comments were closed. I wanted to say I used to have a crystal collection too and loved my fluorite in particular.

    1. Thank you for your hopes for us! We really are hoping there will be some form of good luck coming our way in regards to the parental leave assistance it would be a great help.

I’ll have to take a look at the comments section I’m not sure why it’d be off – oopsie!! Fluorite is amazing isn’t it? What happened to your crystal collection? I hope nothing terrible happened! Thank you so much for commenting 🙂

      1. The comment section being gone is a known WordPress issue that’s been happening to other bloggers and also to me occasionally in the past few months. You can enable comments again by going to the WP post editor via the Edit button on your blog, then cclick More options and then check Allow comments. WordPress seems to be notoriously unwilling/unable to fix this bug. I usually check before publishing my post (and try to remember to check after publication too) whether the comment box is visible so that I can make it appear again before people try to comment.

I think my crystals must be at my parents’. I’m not 100% sure though, as I can’t remember what I did with them when clearing out my student housing apartment in 2010. I had loads of crystals, including red jasper (there are other colors of jasper too, right?), fluorite like I said, carnelian, and lots of different quartz types. My favorite though was my honey calcite, which is said to help you stay in tune with your feelings.

      2. I hope so too. It’s a kind of light orange, much like honey I imagine. I don’t think I’ve ever seen honey (I’m totally blind and grew up legally blind) but I did have the pleasure of seeing the honey calcite when it was gifted to me for my birthday I think.
