What I See For The 2020’s

Hey everyone,

Happy New Years (eve)! How are you all going? I hope around this time of the year you are all pleasantly surprised with how the year 2019 treated you. It’s crazy to think that this is the last time we will be in the ‘teens’ together – we’re now onto the 2020’s onward.

When I think about 2019, I smile. This has been such a wonderful year. My husband Myles and I truly have been so spoiled this year, it has treated us with such good health and luck that it is truly unbelievable. At the same time, we have jumped through many hurdles. My family has been through some unbelievable troubles, as I am sure many families have this year.

It’s been such a bittersweet year, in the deep roots of it I believe it has been a good year in the grand scheme of things because at the end of it my family is still alive and well, safe and happy. What more could you ask?

I have come across some beautiful people this year, I have truly seen the worst and best of people. It’s been an eye opener year, especially for viewing the global community as a whole. I have seen how twisted our politics are here in Australia, and how disgusting wealth can make people that are in power. On the same hand I have seen how powerful the smaller communities are and that their words are making changes and differences, we aren’t tolerating what is happening in the world and society is changing.

I believe the 2020’s are going to be a year of change, especially a change of power in the global community. I think strong movements will be on the horizon, and I am so proud to be a part of it.

In the 2020’s I see a lot of struggle with enormous topics like climate change, I think there will be a lot of back and forth with countries who believe in different opinions. Australia is incredibly naive, and I have heard the talk that we don’t contribute that much to pollution but you need to factor in our population is tiny in comparison to other countries in the world. The politician views in Australia are incredibly toxic, and I will not be surprised if other countries put pressure on Australia to change and I hope that will be enough for it to become a possibility.

Children growing up in 2020 are going to be very aware of the problems in the world, and they will be striving for a lot of change. To the same degree, they are growing up with lots of social media influence which is a breeding pool for bullying and negativity – we need to be incredibly aware of mental health signals and be involved as much as possible.

It’s going to be sad to see the 2010’s finish, however I am very eager to see what the 2020’s bring forth. The only thing that I hope for is a healthier Earth, happier children and stronger involvement in education and funding put into the right avenues like health, education and those who make our world a safer place.
