What Makes You Happy And Why?
There are many things that make me happy in this world. For some reason, one particular memory stands out to me.
It was a year or so ago, I had woken up early on the weekend to make pancakes with my husband and I turned on the television to a music video channel. Maroon 5 was playing, and I was drinking my breakfast juice while the pancakes cooked with my husband. We found ourselves singing along to songs that we haven’t heard for a long time. I was so happy.
Sometimes in life it isn’t about what you own, what you can provide, what is on the cards for you in the future. Sometimes it is just simply being present in the moment where you can truly find utter bliss.
I could list all of the materialistic things that make me happy. For example, my laptop, my phone, my coffee machine/kettle, my favourite soft blanket and clothes – they all make me happy, sure.
It isn’t the same happiness as when you genuinely are oozing from the inside out with just sheer joy.
This joy can come from just even being with your loved ones doing absolutely nothing, and yet just being in the same room as them exceeds your wildest dreams. You don’t need to do anything. Just seeing them and being with them makes your heart fill with joy.
I am always the happiest when life creates it’s own natural happiness. The kind where you find yourself in a moment and you can’t stop smiling. Where you wake up in the morning, not knowing that in just a few minutes you are going to be unbelievably happy without even trying.
In the moments that I am happy, I am always grateful for the happiness. We all know how hard life can be at times. Sometimes it can be a crushing wave where you feel like you will never surface for air again. You forget what it feels like to breathe, but when you do feel happiness it’s taking that first breath that you have been fighting so hard for.
Happiness is wonderful. When you experience it, ensure that you take that happiness in as much as you can. Embrace it, don’t question it. We all deserve to feel it.
