Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick (Book Review)

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick.

I freaking loved this book. I’m really excited for this saga..

Just a quick note, I have not shared any spoilers for this novel! This is purely just my take and recommendation.

If you have read this novel, please don’t post any spoilers in the comments, just in case there are new readers for this novel that haven’t finished or started reading it just yet.

Romance was not part of Nora Grey’s plan. She’s never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how hard her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch comes along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Patch draws Nora to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora’s not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is and seems to know more about her than her closest friends. She can’t decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For she is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen – and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost Nora her life.

Oh, boy. Where do I begin? Well, I remember this series being brought up when I used to live at home with my parents. My mum and I were into the Fallen series and I remember my mum saying Hush, Hush was a series close to it. I couldn’t recall if my mum and I ever got around to reading the Hush, Hush series but I ended up forgetting about it.

After finishing The Mortal Instruments series, I have been eager to find something that scratches my fantasy romance itch. So, I did some Googling and I managed to stumble across Hush, Hush on Good Reads. I decided to give it a go and purchased the saga on my Kindle. I. Don’t. Regret. It.

So it’s incredibly suspenseful, and it has it’s creepy parts. Patch is adorable, I really like Patch. Yes, he is the stereotypical fantasy guy who is edgy, badass and sexy. He has that vibe about him as they always do. The rough around the edges type of guy who is drawn to a quirky, strange dorky woman. We all love that type of stuff.

I had parts of utter intrigue, and I love that the romance wasn’t just thrown at you. It is definitely dripped in slowly, which I love because that tends to keep me reading because I’m like JUST KISS ALREADY.

I don’t have any pain points besides the spelling being a bit off here and there. I think the editing could have been upped a tad, just because it was a bit like “eeehhh” when you see a word incorrectly spelled when you paid for it. You sort of expect it to be in the best shape once it’s out there in the world, but again, that’s just being picky.

What I think I loved the most is the mystery. I couldn’t predict where the author, Becca, was going with the plot. It was driving me insane, I usually love knowing what is going to happen. I was truly glued to each page, I didn’t want to miss anything.

To summarise Hush, Hush:

  • Gothic
  • All about angels (I love it so much, ugh)
  • Creepy
  • Dark
  • Action – like fighting scenes (death included)
  • Illusions/mind games
  • Occasional romance drip fed throughout
  • Deeper back story that hasn’t been touched yet

Sound good to you or is it just me?

All in all I highly recommend giving Hush, Hush a go. I’m currently moving onto Crescendo which is the second novel of the saga, so I will be sure to report back. I am really enjoying the plot. It’s fantastic, so far.

  1. Sometimes I get so upset & confused how books I love can have so many typos & errors but, I’m glad you were able to ignore them & enjoyed this book so much. Nothing is better than finding that perfect new series/book to cure your itch. 😊
