January 2020 Wrap Up

Good (late) morning everyone!

I hope you are all having a wonderful end to your week. It’s the 1st of February 2020 here now in Australia, so we are onto our Saturday starting a fresh new month. Unfortunately it’s still Summer, and we have just been battling a 3 day heat wave. It’s so unbelievably hot, I’d happily swap for some colder days if anyone is offering!

It has been a whirlwind of a month that is for sure.

We started the year with our eyes set on the fact that in February our baby is going to be welcomed into the world.

Can you believe that they will be here in about a week and a half now? And that is us just guesstimating when our c section will be arranged. Eek. It is all starting to feel more real now, my heart does back flips when I think about it. I’m so excited and scared at the same time.

The beginning of January started out as usual..

The registration payments for our car comes out and our bank begins to lick it’s wounds from all of the Christmas spending. It’s our biggest month of spending financially, so we always run our mind around finances throughout January and scrape our coins back into our pockets.

I found stretch marks on my body for the first time, I made it this far! I am pretty proud, but dang do they hurt. They are really deep by my thigh. Only my left side seems to have developed stretch marks so hey, I’m not complaining!

We decorated the nursery a tad more..

We were gifted a beautiful rocking chair for Christmas so we set that up in the nursery and decorated where we could. It looks beautiful.

Every time when you go to the bathroom you walk by the nursery, and it is so nice every time to see all of bubs things ready for them.

As per my photo, you will see the rocking chair is now my cats apparently. He loves it.

We visited the hospital for unbearable rib pain, where we literally thought I had fractured my ribs from how much pain I was in..

Thankfully, I no longer have that pain!

It was a long appointment as they needed to get a trace of bubs resting heart rate before sending us on our way. We ended up being there for hours. Let’s just say, our bub despises anything put on my belly. They never sit still, the midwives get very frustrated with it!

We had the random notice of a valuation being done on our rental property arranged by our landlord..

Which still hasn’t happened. Grr. We are hoping we can avoid having any unnecessary visitors during February in the house so we can just focus on recovering and settling down.

We had the terrible scare with bub..

I mentioned it all here, but bub was measuring 3 weeks behind (fundal height measurement) and transverse to frank breech positioning for bub which has exceeded 35+ weeks. We are on our way to 38 weeks with still not ideal positioning.

Car issues a day before our measurement scan..

My husband was on his way to work when he had to pull over and figure it all out. It was not ideal. We had our important appointment of the measurement confirmation the next day, which was a good hour and a bit drive away from where we live. So we desperately needed the car to work. It was the worst time for car troubles. However, this is what husbands are great for sorting out and the problem managed to get sorted so quickly. Literally by that afternoon my husband had resolved the issues.

Speaking of the hubby, he works in IT for lots of schools so he has had to go back to work after Christmas holidays with having all of this going on while trying to work through the busiest time of the year. Bleh.

We ended January well!

We have a perfectly healthy measuring bub (if anything a day ahead!), we have a c section on the way for scheduling (due to positioning, not ideal because I will need to be put under general anesthesia throughout the surgery due to spine issues). So, yep, we are entering this new month with the end in sight as bub will be here this month of February.

Happy birthday month, bub!

So summarise, January started out intense, throughout the month it continued to go downhill slightly but then by the end there we came out on the good side.

We are incredibly grateful for the way things turned out, we could not be more looked after by whoever is watching over us..

I feel like January has been a pretty rough month for whoever I have spoken to, everyone seems to be getting hiccups in their plans that they set out.

It just sounds like it’s been a make or break kind of month for people, but everything has had a reason. It seems to all be working out well, regardless of the outcome if it is something you had set in your mind or not. It’s been quite interesting!

A huge highlight this month (besides the great news about bub) was coming across the Hush, Hush saga. I am literally obsessed!

I managed to get through the first 3 books, I am now up to the 4th – the last. I don’t want it to end. I wrote a review on the first book here, and I will be writing the others pronto.

Anyway! Let’s hope February is a great one, with what my husband and I (and our families) have in view for this month we are incredibly grateful and excited for the opportunities that face us.

I hope you have all had a wonderful January..

If you have been on the ‘weird but worked out well in the end’ boat just like my husband and family, I feel for you! It’s been so confusing this month.

I’m sending you all my best wishes for February. Stay safe and have a wonderful month. Let’s hope you aren’t struggling with this Summer heat like we are! I’m visualising lots of marshmallows roasted on fires and snow for you all.

Speak soon

Welcome, February 2020
