Write About Something That You Have Always Dreamed About Doing And Why You Haven’t Done It (Yet) – 7 Days 7 Posts

Good morning everyone,

Today is day 7 of the 7 Days 7 Posts challenge. Wow that came up quick, this was a great and quick challenge. I really enjoyed it!

If you would like to join in or start the challenge at your own pace, please see here.

Today’s writing topic is: Write about something that you have always dreamed about doing and why you haven’t done it (yet)

I have always wanted to publish a book. I feel like that is a huge goal for almost everyone, and it doesn’t surprise me as to why. It would be the most fulfilling experience.

If you were able to create something as incredible as the books we have out there, let’s say Lord Of The Rings, you would be absolutely stoked with yourself. If you could create something like the Twilight saga where every woman lost their socks at how much they loved it, you would be so proud of yourself that you did it.

The authors of those incredible series that we all know and love came from handwork and dedication.

A lot of authors out there have endless series that they have put their blood, sweat and tears into and have little to no recognition for their work. They have their fair share of loyal followers, but they just didn’t make the ‘big bucks’, the headlines so to speak.

There are two kinds of authors that proceed from that, the ones that give up or the ones that continue to write. Majority of them don’t mind, they love writing and they will continue to do so. However some of them do mind and this can make them give up entirely on their passion for writing because they are so heart broken.

I feel like there can be a lot of negativity in the writing community, especially now that you can freely self publish books on Amazon and things like this. A lot of people are quite tit-for-tat, they only come to you when they want something. They will use you to get ahead, and I am not like that, I don’t enjoy that kind of company. I guess there is a bit of a stigma where those who publish their books, they feel as though they will make it big time and be the next big thing. They sort of force things to happen, but not in a good way.

I like to think of writing as dancing, there are so many dancers in the world who love to do it but it doesn’t necessarily mean that it will take them anywhere. But at least they enjoy it, right? It’s the same with writing.

I have numerous novels sitting around waiting for me to continue to write them, and I will, but only when I am inspired. Writing isn’t something that I can force myself to do. I know that I would not be able to make a stable income if I were to write novels, I just know that I am not the type of person who would be able to maintain a 9-5 at home writing a novel. I would be pulling my hair out.

That’s why blogging comes in handy, because I’m great at writing short things and lots of them. If you give me something long to work on, I will start to procrastinate and take my sweet time with it. I also am not a fan of the social environment for writers. I guess that’s why I haven’t finished a novel, let alone published one.

What is something that you have always dreamed about doing and why haven’t you done it (yet)?

If you have decided to join in, please link your post below in the comments for us all to come read what you have created and share you some love.

Thank you!

  1. Thanks for letting me join in on your challenge these last seven days. It’s been fun and, well, challenging.
I love your post. I’ll take your word on Twilight–it’s not my genre 🙂 I’m sorry you’ve met some unsavoury writers. Did you, by any chance, meet them on forums? I’ve heard that the boards can be brutal.
Your dream is definitely doable. Yep, writing at home is a constant fight with procrastination, but over time you get into it.
I’ve posted my response to the prompt here: https://susantbraithwaite.com/2020/02/02/chasing-dreams/
Again, thanks for a fun challenge. I’ll keep an eye out for more from you.
